With traditional leather pancake style holsters you have a couple serious disadvantages; 1) they tend to collapse when you draw the gun out. Thus removing the option of easily reholstering with one hand. This can be more serious than simply easily re-holstering the gun in some circumstances. You often have to wiggle the gun back and forth to get it into the holster, and many people develop the bad habit of sticking their hand in front of the gun's muzzle to pry open the holster to start the gun into it. Some even learn to point the gun into their body to get it started in. This is all Not Good! 2) the leather holster has a lot of drag when trying to get the gun out. If you tighten the belt down enough to carry a full size gun, spare magazine, and a light, the drag can be extreme, because the holster is pulled that much harder against the gun.

With a kydex pancake holster (another first for TSC holsters) none of these problems apply. The kydex retains it's shape before, during, and after the gun is drawn. It has the same low drag kydex is known for, and easy reholstering to free up your hand (s). All with the body hugging outside the pants comfort pancake holsters are known for.
